This Is Us: Celebrating Nigerian Design, Craftsmanship, and Culture
At This Is Us, we believe in the power of Nigerian design to enrich lives and elevate our cultural heritage. With each creation, we reimagine experiences, embrace collaboration, and contribute to the betterment of our local communities.
Rooted in the richness of Nigerian culture and abundance of local resources, our design philosophy revolves around using these resources, talents, and processes to create cool and functional design objects that represent the true essence of our nation.
Funtua cotton, an indigenous fabric synonymous with our country, lies at the heart of our story. Curious about its potential, we embarked on a journey to unleash its true beauty and sustainability. Today, we proudly present the most exquisite indigo-dyed fabric, woven in Funtua, Katsina, and hand-dyed in Kano at the centuries-old Kofar Mata Dye pits.
With Funtua cotton as the cornerstone, we have crafted iconic "This is Funtua" tees, offering everyday basics with a touch of authenticity. Collaborating with fellow creatives, we have extended our repertoire to include bags, toys, fashion collections, upholstery, and more - all deeply rooted in Nigerian materials and craftsmanship.
Our curiosity extends beyond Funtua cotton. We explore clay, plastics, wood, and other locally sourced materials to push the boundaries of creativity. Combining these materials with existing or innovative design and production talents, we create special objects that enrich lives and elevate our cultural heritage.
This Is Us is more than just a brand; it is a movement that celebrates Nigerian design, craftsmanship, and culture. Join us on this remarkable journey as we continue to celebrate what we have, create what we don't have, and showcase the brilliance of Nigerian design to the world.
Together, we shape a future where pride, innovation, and craftsmanship define our nation's identity.
