JUNETEENTH
On January 1, 1863, the Emancipation Proclaimation was signed, essentially freeing enslaved Africans in the United States. Though it would be another 2 years before the news reached those still in bondage. On June 19, 1865, enslaved people in Galveston, Texas were informed of their overdue and hard won freedom. To commerate this day we celebrate by remembering the past and celebrating the present, with eyes bright on the future. We eat red, drink red, and wear red in honor of the shoulders on whom we stand. With ADJOAA at your fingertips, you have no excuse not to boss up to the cook-out decked out in red.
